Kelowna Tourism launches a new online survey to see how willing central Okanagan residents are to welcome visitors outside of town this fall in the face of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
It asked how willing local residents are to welcome visitors, particularly from the Thompson and Okanagan areas. The questions extend to residents of other British Columbia communities by geographic degree. What about western provinces? All Canadians? What about americans? The answers can range from very convenient to very uncomfortable.
The survey is similar to another survey that Kelowna Tourism conducted June 3-6. That questionnaire found that 79 percent of the 616 people who responded felt like or very much welcomed visitors from the Thompson and Okanagan areas, and 68 percent felt the same way about residents from other parts of BC
78 percent of these feelings varied from uncomfortable to very uncomfortable for visitors from the USA – 57.5 percent were very uncomfortable.
The new survey finds that the number of visitors in the fall is just over half that in the summer.
The survey also asks about residents’ plans to go on excursions in the coming weeks.
The first poll found that 64.4 percent had either booked a trip in BC or would likely travel within the province, but only 19.7 percent would likely travel outside the province.
The new poll can be taken here.
The results of the first survey can be seen here.
