In Salmon Arm alone, more than 2,400 BC Hydro customers are affected
The power was out and trees fell throughout Shuswap on Wednesday after a violent overnight storm that hit much of southern BC
As of the morning of January 13, more than 100,000 BC Hydro customers were reportedly without power as a result of the storm. In and around Salmon Arm, more than 4,000 Hydro customers were without power, while 1,400 customers were affected by outages in Sorrento.

The winds not only switched off the energy, they also toppled numerous trees. In Salmon Arm, a fallen tree blocked Foothill Road near the intersection of 30th Street SW on Wednesday morning. Another blocked the west turn onto 4th Avenue SE at 5th Street SE. The wind also caused some residential damage – tin roofs are said to have blown away a Salmon Arm residence.
