Six other Kelowna Rockets players and employees have tested positive for COVID-19 and team activities have been suspended for at least 14 days, the Western Hockey League said on Wednesday March 31.

The test results include four players and two employees, announced the WHL.

The six positive test results follow a positive test result for COVID-19 that was received on Tuesday, March 30th.

All other test results from the other participating teams were negative.

The league said players and hockey staff were immediately isolated and tested; BC Health Officials have been contacted by the WHL; All close contacts were instructed to self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor symptoms.

Kelowna Rockets will assist BC Health Officials in tracking contacts, the announcement said.

Ten games between the Rockets and other teams have been postponed.

The Wednesday night game between the Langley-based Vancouver Giants and Prince George Cougars was also postponed out of “caution,” a statement from Giants said.

Giants played against the Rockets on Sunday just before some members of the Kelowna team tested positive.

WHL teams in BC have resumed play under a “hub” city agreement with the provincial health officer that restricts play to two hub cities, Kelowna and Kamloops, as a precaution.
