The calendar turns to December next week and that means West Kelowna will get a lot more festive.
The city’s annual Light Up will take place at Westbank Center on Brown Road, from Main Street to Gossett Road, on Friday, Dec. 6.
It’s free to attend and there will be plenty of family fun to be had between 5-8 pm, including kids activity stations, live entertainment and various food vendors.
Of course, the big attraction will be Mayor Gord Milsom and Santa Claus flipping the switch on West Kelowna’s holiday lights at 6 pm.
But that’s not all, as there will also be a high-altitude fireworks show at 8:30 pm, as long as the weather behaves.
The third annual Twinkle Tour will begin 24 hours earlier and run throughout December until Jan. 3.
You can submit your home or business to be included on the tour through the City website, which is where people can find a map of all the best lights in town.
It’s a giant contest as well, with prizes for the most festive residence, business, street or cul de sac and a simple “other” category.
The contest entry period closes on Dec. 13, judging will take place on Dec. 16 and the winners will be announced on Dec. 20
There’s also a new addition to the holiday festivities in West Kelowna this year.
The Polar Pancake Pajama Party for families with children 12 and younger will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 9-11 am.
You can call the Recreation and Culture Department at 778-797-8800 for more information or to register.
