West Kelowna road sweeping to start on the primary full day of spring

Spring officially starts on Sunday, March 20, but the first full day of spring is the following day.

That Monday will also be the day when a sure sign of spring begins in West Kelowna, as crews will begin the city’s annual street sweeping program.

It will start with the Gellatly Bay and Goats Peak neighborhoods and slowly move to higher elevations as the weather improves.

“The removal of sand and debris from roads, transit exchanges, bus stops and sidewalks is a team effort by City crews and contractors,” explains a City release.

“Residents are encouraged to help move debris off the sidewalk onto the street fronting their homes, but please refrain from creating piles on the roadway as it slows sweepers’ progress.”

<p dir=There will be ‘no parking’ signs posted in neighborhoods as crews make their way through them and residents are asked to park off-street between 7 am and 5 pm to make room for the work.

Minor street sweeping work is currently underway in the downtown area, but here is a tentative schedule that shows where crews will be over the coming weeks:
