House fire in West Kelowna

West Kelowna firefighters put out a cellar fire that was started by a candle Thursday night.
Deputy Fire Chief Chad Gartrell said crews responded to the fire on the 3100 block of Vineyard View Way around 8:20 p.m. and all residents were able to safely evacuate the residence.
He says the crews quickly put the fire down and prevented it from spreading to the first floor.
Investigators considered the cause to be accidental.
West Kelowna Fire Rescue is a reminder to the public to avoid the use of candles in bedrooms, bathrooms and sleeping areas and to put out candles when leaving a room, house or bed.
The department responded with four engines, two security guards and a commander. RCMP, Paramedics, Fortis Gas, BC Hydro, and West Kelowna Utilities also visited the scene.

The West Kelowna Fire Department quickly put out a house fire in West Kelowna Thursday evening.
At around 8:20 p.m., the crews visited the house on Pinot Noir Drive. The fire brigade, ambulance and RCMP are still on site and it is not clear if anyone was injured.
According to a witness, the fire was lit by a candle in the laundry room of the house.
