Once again, the hospitality industry was shaken by some difficult news on Monday when Dr. Bonnie Henry announced the end of dine-in services by April 19th.
It puts restaurants, bars, breweries, and more in an awkward position that they have become all too familiar with over the past 12 months.
While there are certainly mixed thoughts on these latest restrictions, having local support is the main thing that will help your favorite local spots survive now.
Takeout is a great option, as is visiting your favorite terraces for a happy hour beer, appetizer, and more!
As the weather has improved, many Kelowna patios are already open and others are postponing their opening due to Monday’s news.
Many of them have heaters too, as the weather isn’t quite summer yet, which means you can visit in the evenings or even on colder spring days.
Our community has been so supportive of the local population during the pandemic, and we want to help ensure that it stays that way for the next three weeks.
That means compiling a list of decks that are open throughout the central Okanagan, along with some details about their menu, whether they’re dog-friendly, whether they have heaters, and more.
If you own a restaurant, bar, or brewery with a terrace, please email josh@kelownanow.com today or Wednesday with some information:
- Name of the organization
- place
- Current terrace hours
- What kind of menu do you offer?
- Is your terrace heated?
- Is your patio dog friendly?
If you know anyone who owns a facility that may not see this story, please forward it to them so we can add them to the list.
We’ll compile this information with what we already know about specific courtyards and publish a large directory on the Thursday or Friday before the long Easter weekend.
