According to Interior Health, following Friday’s health warning, “a few house parties” are being investigated before possible exposure to coronavirus.
The opinion, issued on Friday afternoon, said people who visited Kelowna between June 25 and July 6 may have been exposed to COVID-19.
According to the report, eight people who had tested positive for coronavirus had attended private gatherings and visited businesses in the city center and on the waterfront.

On Saturday, the medical health officer Dr. Silvina Mema with Global News about the advisory.
“As of yesterday, we’ve been investigating a number of other people and will very briefly confirm how many people there are,” said Mema shortly after 3:00 pm

“We look at their exposures, where they were when they were in Kelowna, and we identify a few parties where these people may have come together.”

Mema described the parties as house gatherings and private gatherings. “However, sick people were here in Kelowna while they were sick and they visited public places.”

She went on to say, “That is why it is important that everyone in Kelowna keep their physical distance when they are out and about.”
Just before 5pm on Saturday, Interior Health identified “two specific locations in Kelowna that people may have recently been exposed to COVID-19.”
The locations were identified as:
- Discovery Bay Resort, 1088 Sunset Drive, Kelowna
- Boyce Gyro Beach Lodge, 3591 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna
“(Interior Health) urges anyone who has attended private gatherings in the following locations on the dates indicated to self-isolate and closely monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested for symptoms” According to the public service announcement.

“Our public health teams will continue to follow up contacts and, whenever possible, reach out directly to exposed people. We commit to keeping the public informed of specific locations and locations of concern as our investigation continues. “

Nursing homes are still a problem during the COVID-19 pandemic
Of the eight people mentioned in Friday’s recommendation, six were from outside the Internal Health Region.
“I want to stress that no specific (Kelowna) business has been identified that had a case – for example, a waitress or an employee of a specific restaurant,” said Mema.
“That’s not the case. We don’t have sick people who have worked in a store. And we’ve checked the safety plans of some of the companies mentioned. And Interior Health is happy with these safety plans.”

Mema stated that the public still needs to be careful, saying, “There is no one specific place where we can determine exactly where someone may have been exposed. So we went public to make them aware that someone really could have been exposed somewhere. “
