A Kelowna store picks up the broken pieces after watches valued at over $ 3,000 were stolen.

Sun City Liquidations and Auctions on Enterprise Way employees arrived at work on Tuesday morning, December 8th, and found their front door broken and jewelry taken away.

Employee Brooke Warren was the first to spot the mess when she opened the store on Tuesday morning.

She described a suspicious person who came into the store the day before (December 7th) and asked to see the clocks. She believes they could be responsible.

“I walked in this morning and the window was completely broken and I immediately thought, look at the clocks. I moved to the side and that was the only thing they wanted. “

Only one clock in a dozen was left behind. Empty watch boxes remained scattered on the countertop. Owner Luanne Markland believes it must have happened early in the morning.

She said the search for her missing product was ongoing.

“I go to the pawn shops and see what is pawned,” said the owner.

Markland was speechless. She said it was never nice to be robbed, but especially not so close to the holidays. The business is a retirement project for Markland and co-owner Allan Tew.

“We’re just trying to make a living, that’s all we’re trying … This is our retirement, minus $ 3,500,” she said.

That being said, she is counting her blessings. The inside of the store was only slightly damaged, something they thought could have been a lot worse.

“It is what it is, it’s just another boot in the ribs from this year.”

Marland stated that a hammer was found inside the store and was used to break the door. She said RCMP had it checked for prints.

The Capital News has reached out to the Kelowna RCMP for comment.
