Love is in the air and this Valentine’s Day is no different from years gone by when friends, families and lovers indulge each other.

The pandemic hasn’t slowed flower sales at Funky Petals in Kelowna, where a dozen roses are a time-honored tradition.

“We’ve just been preparing since early January,” said Louise MacLeod, owner and florist at Funky Petals.

“Orders came in today and yesterday. Usually, Valentine’s Day isn’t very busy on a Sunday, but because of the pandemic, it was very busy.”

MacLeod had to take on a separate room to store the thousands of flowers that can be bundled into a bouquet.

“People are here and not necessarily traveling, so it’s nice that they can buy something that they can remember,” said Krista Schmidt.
