For the first time in 25 years, the University of BC Okanagan (UBCO) men’s volleyball team brought home the President’s Cup.

The squad struggled with a five-set win over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack. The men follow in the footsteps of Heat’s women’s teams, who won their President’s Cup trophy back in November. UBCO won their first men’s trophy since 1996-97 after losing two sets to one (25-21, 20-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-7). The victory also gives UBCO the opportunity to win the two trophies for the first time in 25 years.

“Given that the President’s Cup Athletics Challenge was created in the spirit of friendly athletic competition while promoting excellence, sportsmanship and friendship between students, faculty and staff at the two institutions, it is an honor to do our part in securing the Cup our division this season,” commented Brad Hudson, Heat’s men’s volleyball head coach.
