Central Okanagan Townships are reminding residents that property tax payments and home ownership applications are due July 2nd.

There are several ways taxpayers can make their payments in Kelowna.

  • Via online or telephone banking with your financial institution
  • By ticking and using the mailbox in front of the Town Hall Water Street doors
  • By sending checks to City Hall (post-dated checks are accepted; note that the postmarked date does not count as the date of payment and a minimum of five working days is recommended)
  • In person at your financial institution
  • Third-party credit card payment companies.

Residents participating in the pre-authorized withdrawal system are responsible for making their final payment through one of the options listed above.

“We would like to remind property owners that they can only apply for the Home Owner Grant through the Province of BC, either online or by phone, and that the city can no longer accept applications,” said Jackie Dueck, Kelowna City Controller.

“After applying for the home equity grant through the provincial website, property owners will be given a confirmation number that they can use to check the status of the application online.”

Property owners can visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant to review the different types of grants and eligibility to apply for the provincial HOG and review their application status. Once the application has been approved, the grant will be transferred to the property owner’s municipal property tax account within a few working days.
