Running a business during the COVID-19 pandemic was far from easy and restaurants were hit the hardest.

On Friday, the city temporarily lost another of its facilities thanks to a positive COVID test. Cantina Del Centro – Kelowna announced it will close for 14 days after an employee tests positive for the virus.

“Opening a new store during a global pandemic is a crazy whirlwind and we’ve been overwhelmed with the support from our community since we opened our doors in September,” the restaurant wrote. “We pride ourselves on our safety plan and procedures, but even with our best efforts, some things are just bigger than us.”

“With a heavy heart we announce that we will be closed for 14 days from November 27th, as we have unfortunately detected a positive case of Covid-19 in our room. We see it as our personal responsibility to watch our guests and employees so that you can enjoy our cantina vibes in the future. ”

The restaurant thanked the residents for their understanding and mentioned that they would be very happy to welcome guests again in the near future.

“We believe that it is best to be transparent instead of keeping things calm. Everyone must do their part to keep our local community strong and healthy at all costs. We’ll spend our time thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting the room to keep it safe upon reopening. ”
