Man arrested for stabbing a knife

A Kelowna man arrested Sunday evening was taken into custody after allegedly breaking into a house and stabbing a man to death.
A large police presence was discovered in the parking lot of the Rutland Pet Hospital on Sunday at around 5:50 p.m. According to a witness, a man was attacked and arrested after trying to escape from officers.
According to the RCMP, officers reacted to a house on the 2100 block of Burtch Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. after a man reportedly broke into the house and attacked a man with a sharp weapon.
“The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries by BC Emergency Health Services,” the RCMP statement said.
“The suspect fled the scene before the officers arrived, but was in the Rutland area a few hours later. The man tried to escape on foot but was taken into custody near the intersection of Hollywood Road North and Houghton Road. “
The 29-year-old Kelowna man has been released conditionally and is due to appear in court at a later date. The results of the investigation will be presented to the BC prosecutor for review.
“The victim and suspect were known to each other and RCMP does not believe there is a continuing threat to the public.”
