A house on Boucherie Road in West Kelowna went up in flames overnight, but no one was injured in the major fire.
The fire department responded to the house on the 2600 block of Boucherie Road around 11:30 pm and determined that “there were serious fires involved on the upper sundeck”.
The fire quickly penetrated the roof of the deck, through the attic, and down to the main living area of the house.
The family who lived there were home at the time, but all family members, including their pets, made it safely.
Chad Gartrell, assistant fire chief at West Kelowna Fire Rescue, said that due to the extent of the damage to the house, they could not determine the cause of the fire, but they do not believe the fire was inherently suspicious.
