The Doordash driver damages the West Kelowna buyer’s automobile straight away

A West Kelowna woman got more than just Mexican food when she ordered burritos & tacos with Doordash at Quesada this week.

Sydney Sinclair tells NowMedia that she ordered the food on Wednesday December 15th and had no issues when the driver placed her order.

Unfortunately, she later found out that the driver hit her vehicle while parking his vehicle and he decided not to tell her. She made this discovery by looking back at her surveillance videos on the front door.

“The delivery man arrived at my house, turned around in the driveway, got straight into my car, gave me my food (and) then drove off,” explained Sinclair.

“He didn’t tell me at the time that he had run into a car in second place before he gave me my meal.”

Sinclair says she reported the incident to ICBC and the RCMP, but ICBC cannot provide much help or a rental car until the driver shows up and reports the accident himself.

She initially said the company “barely responded” to her, but NowMedia has now confirmed with Doordash that they have been in contact with Sinclair since this morning.

The Kelowna RCMP confirmed the incident to NowMedia, saying it happened on the 3000 block of Stoneridge Drive and that they are still investigating.

“The complainant stated that a deliverer had driven into a vehicle parked at this location and left it without having made any effort to report the collision,” said a statement from Cst. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

Meanwhile, Sinclair is left with a vehicle that she says has sustained some notable damage.

“I got pretty significant damage to the side of my door near the front right tire,” she added.

“I’m very upset and sick that someone would do something like this and then don’t tell me right after it happened when he gave me my food.”

<p dir=Doordash has a section on its website dedicated to the Occupational Accidents Policy. However, it mainly deals with driver injuries and says nothing about damage to a customer’s property.

However, the company informed NowMedia directly that it had now contacted Sinclair directly and that they would now be supported by the company’s insurance carrier.

“DoorDash takes the security of our community very seriously and we sincerely regret this disruptive incident,” said a spokeswoman.

“We have disabled the dasher involved, are contacting the customer for assistance, and will be working with law enforcement on any investigation into this matter.”
