Teenager arrested after allegedly escaping the West Kelowna accident and working away from RCMP

An 18-year-old man was arrested after allegedly escaping the accident site in West Kelowna.

The man is also believed to have driven a car that was stolen from Kelowna on December 4th.

Mounties said they were called about the accident involving a vehicle around 10:30 p.m. on December 9th.

It happened on Highway 97 near Campbell Road.

<p dir=Police said witnesses reported that the driver escaped the vehicle on foot after the collision.

When police found a man who matched the driver’s description, they said he gave a false name before escaping on foot.

Another officer later found the man. He tried to escape again, the police said.

“He was arrested without further incident after a car chase,” added Mounties.

The man is now in custody. Fees are still pending.
