(UPDATE: July 5th at 1:45 p.m.) – Investigators have determined that the suspicious package left outside a store in Kelowna this morning posed no threat.

Both Davie Road and Saskatoon Road have been reopened to traffic.

The investigation into the origin of the package is ongoing.

<p><strong>(Original story: July 5th @ 12:40 pm) – </strong>The Kelowna RCMP is currently investigating a suspicious package that was left outside a local store this morning.</p>
<p dir=Officials were called to the store on 100 block on Dave Road at around 11 a.m. today after employees noticed the package.

“(The) Kelowna RCMP have cordoned off the area and are waiting for the explosives disposal unit to be present and determine if the package poses a threat,” said an RCMP release.

“The surrounding shops were evacuated as a precautionary measure for security reasons.”

Davie Road is also closed between Hwy 33 and Hollydell Road, while Saskatoon Road is closed between Davie Road and Dundas Road.

The RCMP urges the public to avoid the area while an investigation is ongoing.
