(UPDATE: July 5 @ 1:45pm) – Investigators have determined that the suspicious package left outside a Kelowna business this morning is not a threat.

Both Davie Road and Saskatoon Road have reopened to traffic.

The investigation into the origin of the package is ongoing.

<p><strong>(Original story: July 5 @ 12:40 pm) – </strong>The Kelowna RCMP is currently investigating a suspicious package that was left outside a local business this morning.</p>
<p dir=Officers were called to the business in the 100 block of Dave Road around 11 am today after employees noticed the package.

“(The) Kelowna RCMP have cordoned off the area and are waiting for the Explosive Disposal Unit to attend and determine if the package poses a threat,” said an RCMP release.

“Nearby businesses have been evacuated as a precautionary measure for safety purposes.”

Davie Road is also closed between Hwy 33 and Hollydell Road, while Saskatoon Road is closed between Davie Road and Dundas Road.

The RCMP is requesting that the public avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the package or this incident in general is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
