Sports activities fields in Kelowna stay closed, residents requested to remain away

Now if you want to kick a ball or throw a frisbee when the weather is nice, you need to do so in a place that is not a sports field.

Cool temperatures and snowfall in the late season keep the city’s sports fields closed until mid-April.

Residents are reminded to avoid the fields until they are officially open for the spring sports season.

The fields need adequate time to dry and the grass needs to grow actively to ensure the best quality lawn for the summer.

The Apple Bowl Track is currently open, the Ball Diamonds are slated to open April 6, and the remaining fields are slated to open on Saturday April 14, weather permitting.

Teams looking for a place in the meantime can book a place on an artificial turf field by calling 250-469-8827.
