The Salvation Army is booking dates for its annual Sharing Christmas program.

With Christmas only a few weeks away, the Salvation Army is opening registration for their annual Sharing Christmas Food & Toy program in the Central Okanagan.

Last year’s program helped more than 600 families with Christmas baskets, including toys for 1,100 children from Peachland to Lake Country.

Kelowna Salvation Army executive director Darryl Burry says it’s important that families book early as demand for the program increases.

“We want to make sure that no one falls through the cracks during this special time of love and giving. However, in order to meet the demands placed on us, we respectfully ask all families to register as soon as possible. “

The Salvation Army saw demand rise 47 percent in the first six months of 2019.

“Without the tremendous support from the church, we couldn’t offer this blessing,” says Burry. “From financial donations to donating food and new toys … every contribution helps us to give hope and dignity to the families here in our community.”
