Lisa Husch, who lives near Ballou Park in Glenmore, shared several photos of the Kelowna Fire Department’s initial response Tuesday night.
Husch says her neighbors Courtney Smith Ball and husband Adam were instrumental in fighting the fire. Husch says Castanet called Courtney 911 while her husband was run over with a fire extinguisher and started work on the fire near Ballou Park around 9 p.m.
Kelowna assistant fire chief Tim Light says tips and help from the public are extremely helpful and “absolutely” appreciated.
Light says the fire brigade sent four engines, a bush truck and their command vehicle to the scene of the fire in Ballou Park, “we take no chances. Hopefully we can deal with this before the wind gets it or it gets into the trees.”
Light says the second fire after Ballou Park was set on Long Ridge Drive between 40 and 50 minutes later, he says both fires were quickly put out.
