Police are investigating a suspicious death in Kelowna.

RCMP were called to an apartment on the 1200 block off Sycamore Road in Rutland shortly before 1:30 a.m. after a man was found dead.

“We currently do not publish the name of the deceased,” says Kelowna RCMP spokesman Cpl. Jocelyn Nose worthy. “However, the police believe that this incident is isolated and that the victim and the suspect were known to each other.”

A Kelowna man was taken into custody on the matter. However, no charges have currently been brought.

Investigators have cordoned off the area and are collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses, says Noseworthy.

Neighbors report at least four police vehicles outside the home and a crime scene tape surrounding the area.

The Kelowna RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken control of the investigation.

The BC Coroners Service has launched a concurrent investigation to determine all the facts surrounding the death.

No further information is being released at this time, but police are encouraging anyone who witnesses or knows about the crime to report immediately and call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
