Body of the diver recovered

RCMP has now confirmed that they have found the body of missing diver Brian Lannon.

The body of the 52-year-old Kamloops firefighter was discovered by a citizen in the water south of the William R. Bennett Bridge just after 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

The body has now been brought ashore and the West Kelowna RCMP will work with the BC Coroners Service to continue its investigation.

A massive search was conducted on the body of the diver who went missing scuba diving near WR Bennett Bridge on May 15. This search is now complete.

“We would like to thank our partners at Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) and Kelowna and Kamloops Fire and Rescue for all of their efforts over the past few weeks in conducting this search,” said S / Sgt. Duncan Dixon from RCMP West Kelowna.

“We would also like to express our condolences to family, friends and co-workers who suffer this terrible loss.”

RCMP cordoned off Lake Avenue near Mushroom Beach, where they’ve been looking for missing Kamloops firefighter Brian Lannon since May 15.

Lannon never reappeared after diving with others near the east end of the William R. Bennett Bridge on May 15.

Search parties again searched Okanagan Lake with sonar on Sunday morning.

The area around Mushroom Beach has now been cordoned off. Castanet asked RCMP for details.
