A driver in Kelowna was arrested Wednesday by BC’s anti-gang unit with a vehicle full of guns and drugs

A man was arrested with weapons and drugs by the provincial anti-gang police force in Kelowna on Wednesday.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit says its officers were conducting a “proactive enforcement” Wednesday afternoon in Kelowna when they noticed a car was being driven by a lone male driver.

After the vehicle had committed “several” violations of the Motor Vehicle Act, the officers stopped it. As they approached the car, a gun was clearly seen leading to the driver’s arrest.

A search of the car found fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine powder, crack cocaine and heroin.

Weapons, including brass knuckles and several knives, were confiscated along with a modified .22 caliber. Gun, lots of ammunition and cash.

The man was released pending further investigation and criminal charges.

CFSEU-BC is located in Kelowna after a brazen shooting on Pandosy Street Saturday night, where an assassin committed the fourth assassination attempt on Kyle Gianis since 2017. A self-made bomb was also found at the crime scene.

“CFSEU-BC is proactively using our UGET teams across British Columbia to target those who seek to harass the most vulnerable through drug trafficking and who pose the greatest risk to our communities through their involvement in violent organized crime,” says Superintendent Bill Spearn, Operations Support Officer for CFSEU-BC.

“We work closely with our police partners like the Kelowna RCMP to contain, disrupt and suppress criminal activity across the province. Arrests and seizures like this confirm that our collaboration with local authorities and RCMP departments across the province is of great public safety value. “
