A West Kelowna man has died after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening.
At about 5:30 pm, West Kelowna RCMP received a call that a man had been struck by a 2005 Chrysler 300 on Scotstown Road at Grenada Crescent.
An off-duty nurse was the first on the scene and immediately jumped into life-saving mode. She administered CPR until paramedics arrived.
Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the nurse and paramedics, the man later died at the hospital.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was cooperative and told police that he was traveling eastbound at about 20-25 km/h when he hit the man.
In a news release, police say the man claimed he did not see the victim because he was wearing dark clothing and there were no street lights in the area.
Witnesses provided similar information.
“Police encourage all drivers and pedestrians to take extra precaution when out after dark during this time of the year,” said Cst. Mike Della Paolera.
An investigation was launched at the scene Friday night as officers notified the victim’s family.
