Prominent Penticton wood mill stores
The last day of the workforce at Greenwood Forest Products is April 2nd
A well-known wood mill in Penticton is closed.
On April 1, Greenwood Forest Products announced that the manufacturing facilities at 143 Green Mountain Road will be permanently closed. The majority of the employees’ last working day is April 2nd. Around 30 to 35 people have lost their jobs.
The company will keep some senior executives to close the deal and prepare for an auction, said Wade Walker, CEO and owner of Greenwood Forest Products.
Greenwood Forest Products has struggled with continued rising timber costs and a general lack of timber availability for the past five years, Walker said in a press release.
This recent period has proven too tough for the value adding wood sector in BC
Greenwood Forest Products would like to thank all committed employees over the years and the Beulah and Dobi families for their years of support.
Greenwood has been based in Penticton since 1983.
