A Kelowna woman with a relative at the Mountainview Village nursing home reached out to Castanet to tell us there has been another death at the home due to COVID-19.

Facility manager Shelley Krebs sent an email to the resident’s family members.

“I regret to inform you that a resident of Complex Care WEST who was COVID-19 positive has passed away. Our deepest condolences go to your loved ones at this very sad time. We deeply regret your loss,” the e- Mail.

The email sent on Monday goes to the state nursing home management. It is doing everything in its power to comply with all public health regulations and is working closely with Interior Health to reduce the transmission of the virus.

“Please note that if a resident tests positive or changes their health, their main contact or their statutory health representative will be notified immediately.”

Good Samaritan Mountainview Village has created a Current Case Numbers page on their website that as of Tuesday December 22nd, 2020 states the following:

  • A confirmed COVID-19 outbreak has been reported in the long-term care sector.
  • There are four actively resident COVID-19 cases.
  • One resident has recovered.
  • Unfortunately, two residents died.
  • There are two active COVID-19 cases for employees.
  • Five employees have recovered.
