It’s called madness for a reason.
The Okanagan College basketball program is running a fundraiser for March Madness Bracket this month. Here you have the option to choose the teams that will land in the NCAA Div. 1 Men’s Basketball Final Four, and who will advance to the championship game.
On March 14th, the NCAA will announce the bracket, a list of all the teams in the tournament and the path they must take to get to the Final Four and the championship.
It is a three-week tournament in which four regions, each with 16 teams, are seeded in places 1 to 16. Over the years the tournament has produced some quality glitches, like the 14th seed cutting off the third seed in the opening round, and these glitches usually spoil a lot of brackets.
Only once did a 16th seed cut off a top seed.
Those registered for the Okanagan College bracket would create their bracket via a link from the college to make a selection of who will win each game in the tournament.
As of March 18, the tournament will consist of 64 teams that compete against each other with a winner in a single elimination round. The bracket pool winner will win $ 1,000 and a signed DeMar DeRozan youth jersey. Second place will receive a portable Salorr gas scooter and third place will receive $ 250.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to the Okanagan College Foundation for scholarships, grants, and awards for basketball students and athletes.
Due to the March Madness cancellation last year, the college’s goal is to raise $ 18,000. Only $ 2,000 has currently been raised, but 14 days remain until the registration deadline.
