Found alive in the bush

Okanagan Forest Task Force head Kane Blake took to social media over the weekend to share what he thinks is increasingly common – people who live out in the bush.
Photos he posted to the OFTF group show piles of wood, tools, a motor home and rubbish.
Blake says he won’t reveal where he found the site, but he’ll return to the area sporadically to make sure everything is cleaned up.
“I understand times are tough and some people are now living in the bush. Hell, I’d live in the bush if I could, but it’s getting out of hand, ”he wrote on Facebook.
Blake says he offered to get items out for free, but his help was turned down.
“We had a good chat and were told things would be cleaned up,” Blake said, adding the person had apparently been living there for less than a week.
Earlier this month, the Lake Country Fire Department dealt with a major RV fire in a backcountry on Beaver Lake Road where a person had lived.
With Kelowna home prices rising by $ 100,000 in March and April and two-bedroom rental hitting $ 2,000 for the first time in Central Okanagan last month, some residents find themselves in precarious living conditions forced.
“I’m currently living in my truck because I can’t afford rent / don’t feel like selling my soul,” said one member of the group in response to Blake. “I can’t even justify leaving my tent, let alone a disaster. Besides, people suck and I would be afraid that my tent won’t be there or that it will be destroyed when I get back from work.”
