Housing’s finest nominated

Timberhaven Homes’ Monts de Cieux is a nominee in three categories.
Dilworth Homes and Isabey Interiors have collected the most nominations for the 30th annual Okanagan Housing Awards.
Both businesses are finalists for eight awards. Dilworth Homes was the company with the most nominations among the builders, while Isabey Interiors collected the most in the interior design division. Westwood Fine Cabinetry led the way with six nominations in the supplier category.
The Okanagan Housing Awards, which are conducted annually by the Central Okanagan chapter of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association, celebrates the best projects of the year in new home construction, residential renovation and interior design. The awards gala will be held Saturday, Feb. 4.
The Okanagan Housing Awards will always showcase the most lavish homes in the valley, but there has been an increase in energy efficient projects as well as denser forms of infill housing like townhomes and low-rise buildings.
“The way we think about residential construction is changing. Missing middle housing and energy efficiency are top of mind for current and aspiring homeowners,” CHBA-CO president Darren Witt said in a press release.
“While the awards have always showcased impressive custom homes, I’m particularly impressed by those that have gone above and beyond in energy efficiency and density-based construction. These are truly the homes of the future.”
AuthenTech, which is the builder behind the Wilden Living Lab project, received seven nominations, while Vernon’s Keith Dahlen Construction is a finalist in five categories.
“Residential construction is the economic engine of our region,” CHBA-CO executive officer Daniel Winer said. “It’s been a banner year for the home building industry across the Central Okanagan. These awards are a chance to celebrate the hard work of our local home builders and to showcase the future of housing for the community.”
