Kelowna Toyota is the newest dealership looking to have a stronger presence.
The city council on Monday approved a building permit for the auto and service center at 1624 Cary Road on the site of Western RV.
“This would mean renovating some of the existing buildings on the property, removing those buildings and building a new dealership,” said city planner Dean Strachan.
The new dealership, which replaces Toyota’s current location on Leathead Road, is said to be adjacent to the new Hyundai property, which was approved late last fall.
According to Strachan, the planning staff worked with the applicant on the design, specifically the landscaping which he believes will improve the landscape along this corridor of the highway.
Over the past three years there has been a surge in modernization of real estate along the freeway, and the focus on landscaping has greatly improved the entrance and gate into the city, “said Coun. Luke Stack.
“This is just another one that improves overall boarding when you leave the airport and come into town.”
