New rental report lists Kelowna because the 4th most costly place in Canada

In a somewhat surprising report, Kelowna was ranked the fourth most expensive rental price in the country.

The average price for a one-bedroom Kelowna apartment is now $ 1,610 a month, according to Zumper.com.

That’s well below Vancouver, at $ 2,130 per month, but ahead of much larger cities like Victoria in fifth place ($ 1,600), Ottawa in seventh place ($ 1,500) and Hamilton in 10th place ($ 1,450).

“Kelowna has carved out a spot in the fourth most expensive rental market, with one-bedroom rent increasing 0.6 percent to $ 1,610 and two-bedroom rent increasing 4.8 percent to $ 2,180” said Zumper in his latest Canadian rental report.

The average price for a two-bedroom room in Vancouver was $ 2,900.

Toronto came in second, with one bedroom for $ 1,800 and two bedrooms for $ 2,250.

Barrie, Ontario ranked third, one-bedroom for $ 1,700 and two-bedroom for $ 1,850.

Victoria was fifth, with one bedroom for $ 1,600 and two bedrooms for $ 2,150.

Year-over-year, Zumper said Kelowna’s one-bedroom prices were up 7.3 percent from 2020, while two-bedroom prices were up 24.6 percent.

In June, PadMapper published its Canadian Rent Report.

PadMapper had Vancouver number one in terms of rental rates, with one-bedroom rentals for $ 1,950. Toronto finished second ($ 1,800) and Burnaby, BC, third ($ 1,700).

  • Victoria ($ 1,600)
  • Oshawa ($ 1,570)
  • Kelowna ($ 1,520)
  • Ottawa ($ 1,480)
