Neighbors in a Kelowna community respond to an unconventional sale sign on a home that has come on the market because homeowners claim they are fed up with a neighbor.

Kane Blake, the homeowner, put up a sign that reads “Home for sale by owner because neighbor is an A-hole”.

“I think it’s a great sign to be honest because it actually reveals to anyone looking to buy this house that there is a problem with that one person in this neighborhood,” said Sharon Gaudry, Kane’s mother-in-law.

Gaudry said the neighbor started molesting the couple when they moved in five years ago.

“He bullied, bullied and molested this family, my family,” she said.

Gaudry said she was concerned about the safety of her grandchildren.

“One of the grandchildren goes to school by bike. We no longer allow him to ride his bike to school because we’re scared, ”she said.

Some residents in the area say the neighbor makes frequent and frivolous calls to the family’s statutes.

“He was just targeting them, he was accusing them of all sorts of things that just weren’t true,” said neighbor Sandra Ainsley.

The neighbor in question declined to be interviewed, but his friend Keith Kish said he was shocked by the sign – both its profanity and its message.

“It was amazing. I couldn’t understand why the RCMP wasn’t here and forced him to turn it off immediately,” said Kish.

“It’s something that should never be placed in any neighborhood.”

“There are five schools around here that children shouldn’t be exposed to. What does this teach the children? “

Kish expressed concern about legal enforcement in the area. He said officials are not doing enough about alleged home business violations, speeding and erratic driving.

Statutory officers could not be reached for comment.

The neighbors in the area had mixed feelings about the sign.

“It’s actually pretty funny, I thought it was funny,” said Ainsley.

“You don’t like to see something like that in a neighborhood. They want everyone to get along, ”said neighbor Terry Schlaht.

Kane said the response to his sign has been largely positive.

“I got people photographed with the sign, I stopped cars and took pictures with the sign, everyone loves it,” he said.

Despite the warning on the sale sign, Kane said the family had still received offers on the house.
