Firefighters doused a downtown Kelowna business fire overnight.

The Kelowna Fire Department Dispatch Center received the fire alarm for a business on the 300 block of Bernard Avenue about 10:30 pm

Neighboring business reported an audible alarm and light haze of smoke.

Crews arrived to find moderate visible smoke inside the building, says Platoon Capt. John Kelly.

Firefighters gained access and located a fire in the middle of the unit.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

Damage was contained to the area of ​​origin, and there was minor structural damage to an interior wall as well as some smoke damage, says Kelly.

Initial findings indicate the cause of the fire was electrical in nature.

Fire inspectors will be investigating today to determine the cause.

Kelowna Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, rescue unit and command vehicle with 15 personnel.
