Interior Health may have found a partial solution to parking issues near Kelowna General Hospital.
The health department is believed to have bought a piece of Landkitty Corner for the hospital.
The property at 2169 Pandosy Street was launched earlier this month at a price of $ 10 million.
Coldwell Banker’s listing agent Bill Raine confirmed the property sold for $ 10.2 million.
Raine couldn’t confirm the buyer.
Parking or lack of parking space has long been a point of contention for hospital staff, patients and visitors.
It was also a problem for the residents of the KGH.
At a hospital board meeting earlier this week, the health authority dropped plans for a new parkade in favor of other options.
“Rather than building a single parkade, we have found that the preferred solution is to purchase land in close proximity to the Kelowna General Hospital campus and develop parking spaces on those lots,” said Sylvia Weir, IH chief financial officer. in a letter on the board.
Interior Health has not yet confirmed the purchase.
The property has been the subject of numerous development proposals over the years.
The most recent outcome was a controversial public hearing last year after former owner Alana Marrington proposed a mixed-use medical commercial hotel project on the property. The council voted 4: 3 against the development.
