Large Glenmore rental development given green light by Kelowna Council
The development will include 238 rental units in four five-story buildings
A large residential complex of four buildings and 238 units for rent in the Glenmore area is coming into operation despite some height concerns from the surrounding community.
Kelowna City Council approved the project 7-1 at a public hearing on Tuesday. Mayor Colin Basran pulled out of the vote while living in a nearby apartment building.
Development will take place at the base of Knox Mountain Park on a new road called Cara Glen Court.

The buildings will all be five stories high, two stories higher than the zoning allowance. The altitude attracted the ire of most who voiced their concerns about the project.
The council, for the most part, was happy to support the project, with most mentioning that it offers much-needed rental housing.

Coun. Charlie Hodge was the only councilor to vote against the development, calling the height too high and the green space poor.
“I just want to see top notch developments in my community.”
Kerkhoff Construction will develop the complex and are the same builders behind the One Water Street development, which is said to be the tallest tower in Kelowna.
