It all started five years ago with an innocent trip to Kelowna to watch their son play football.
Now the Machart family is owner and operator of the city’s newest supplement store. Supplement World Kelowna opened in December at 1955 Harvey Ave.
The youngest Machart is 25-year-old Adam, who is basically the reason why the family is now in Kelowna. He came with the Saskatoon Hilltops to play the Okanagan Sun in a Canadian Junior Football League game five years ago, and his parents decided to come along and see a new part of the world.
“My wife (Peggy) and I had never been here,” dad Ed Machart says. “So we booked a few extra days and went: Oh my gosh, this place is amazing! We love it here. So we spent the next five years figuring out how we’re going to live here.”
Adam, a running back who is expected to be drafted by a CFL team this spring, actually worked at a Supplement World store in Saskatoon during his university days, but it was Ed who was working behind the scenes to open up a location in Kelowna.

And now the whole family is involved in the new Kelowna business. Tyler, who is two years older than Adam, has joined the family business after spending the last few years in the banking industry. He also has junior football history, playing two years with the Calgary Colts, and has the outgoing personality and customer service experience that serves him well at Supplement World.
Adam is training hard to prepare for the CFL combine, but he is also the perfect employee for Supplement World Kelowna. Since he is getting ready to embark on a professional football career, he is also one of Supplement World’s biggest customers. He knows everything there is to know about how to safely supplement your diet.
“It’s on the line for me,” Adam said, “so there’s no fooling around.”
Peggy, meanwhile, is educated in nutrition and women’s health coaching.
Adam stays up to date on all products in the supplement industry, so he can answer any and all questions. The inventory at Supplement World is vast, so it keeps him and the rest of the staff members busy.
“Our knowledge base is what we consider to be very high,” Adam says. “We’re a staff in general that is never satisfied. We never stop learning. There’s always new, improved science and products and all that stuff, and we try to keep on top of that.
“Stay current, stay fresh, keep our knowledge high, and never stop learning.”
Supplement World Kelowna is the first one in BC and 11th overall for the franchise, which also has four locations in Saskatoon, three in Edmonton, one in Calgary, one in Regina and one in Prince Albert, Sask.
“The customer experience is our first priority,” Adam says, “and getting products to customers that they truly need.”
