Interior Health has reported a COVID-19 outbreak at the Mountainview Village long-term care home after a thorough public health investigation. The outbreak applies to both east and west units on the second floor.
An employee and resident on the second floor tested positive for COVID-19. Employees who are in close contact with these individuals are in self-isolation and monitor symptoms. IH will continue to monitor the situation and take additional infection control and prevention measures.
To protect the safety of all residents, outbreak protocols have been implemented in the affected units, including a temporary interruption in visits to all residents on the second floor. Social visits remain open to residents on the first floor.
Interior Health continues to take steps to protect the health of all employees, caregivers and families in nursing homes. This contains:
- Ensure that the nursing staff only works in one nursing home (according to the individual order of the province).
- Monitor all residents for respiratory symptoms and perform COVID-19 tests on those with COVID-19 symptoms.
- Improved cleaning protocols and COVID-19 visitor guidelines.
The Mountainview Village is privately owned and operated with 90 publicly funded care beds.
