A new hearing on the conduct of the RCMP has been scheduled for an RCMP officer in Kelowna charged with sexual assault.

Const. Chad Vance is currently suspended without pay pending trial on a single sexual assault charge, due to begin February 16, 2021, on an alleged incident from July 1 to July 31, 2015.

A hearing by the RCMP is now also scheduled for April 19 in Kelowna, which will be used when the force requests the dismissal of an officer.

The RCMP quoted Vance with seven allegations of section 7.1 of the RCMP Code of Conduct: “Members behave in such a way that the force is unlikely to be discredited.”

The termination negotiations were originally scheduled for September 2020, but were postponed. The firing hearings are public, but this will likely be virtual due to the pandemic.

Vance was a member of the RCMP Southeast District General Investigation Section when he was hit by the criminal complaint in June 2019. The details of the allegation are currently unknown.
