Some large dollars are being invested in Lake Country roads and other projects.
The next phase of improvement to Bottom Wood Lake Road is about to begin as the planning work is almost complete and the project is open to tender earlier this year.
The Nexus to Beaver Lake Road project is expected to cost $ 1.9 million. The majority of the bill comes from road construction costs, road reserves, grants, gas tax and developer contributions.
From Swalwell to the Berry Road Roundabout, upgrades are already being made to Bottom Wood Lake Road. The project cost is $ 1,326,211. Most of the costs were covered by developer contributions with part of it from grants.
These and other applications are being considered for early approval by the Lake Country Council.
“Every year, when the list of capital projects is taken into account, the timing of these projects is also taken into account,” said Deputy CAO / CFO Tanya Garost in her report to the Council. “Some projects require an early bidding process to maximize the number of potential submissions and the most competitive bids. Some purchases require a long lead time in order to receive the items such as fire extinguishers and appliances. “
Other items on the capital list are:
• Real estate software system $ 965,000, funded by COVID restart grant
• Land procurement for Rail Trail USD 825,000, Parkland DCC
• Carr’s Landing Nuyen System Construction (Sewer) $ 700,000, capital reserve
• Woodsdale Waterfront Park and Cultural Center plans $ 400,000, capital reserves and grants
• Park and Facility Manager $ 143,750
• Long Road Design $ 150,000
