“I noticed a bit of it falling off about two years ago,” said Cody Turner, a Knox Mountain Metals employee. “It’s really started to fall in the last six to eight months, just chunks at a time.”
The City of Kelowna has been aware of the situation for some time.

“The slide at Knox, we noticed it was moving about a month ago,” said Stephen Bryans of the City of Kelowna. “In general, we have the entire slope checked monthly. We called our geotech and they found the water pool there was quite large and we have monitored it every week since then. “
Bryans said work on stabilizing the hill cannot begin until the soil dries up.
The area is currently unsafe for people and devices.
Bryans said the city will continue to monitor the slide with the help of geotechnical engineers.
“If it’s a safety issue, we have to get people out of the way, including Knox Mountain Metals,” said Bryans.
