The Kelowna real estate market continues to boom, with local condo sales not only attracting the attention of buyers from across Canada but also making national headlines.

On July 29th, Global News published an article titled “Developer of High-Rise Project in Downtown Kelowna Says 1st Tower Housing Development Planned for Downtown Kelowna.”

Although the July 2021 figures have not yet been released by the Association of Interior Realtors, the combined months of May and June showed a 223% increase in total Central Okanagan condominium sales, with inventories down an average of 50% year over year same two months in 2020. This high demand, coupled with low inventory, helped make the first Water Street by the Park tower an extraordinary success, with 144 homes sold in just 48 hours.

For sale were one-bedroom homes starting at $ 300,000 in the middle, two-bedroom apartments starting at $ 500,000, and three-bedroom homes starting at around $ 900,000. And while the skyrocketing sales caught national attention, it came as no surprise to Anthony Beyrouti and Apriano Meola, co-founders of Orchard Park Properties who are developing the groundbreaking three-tower project.

“It was sure to be an amazing weekend with all 144 houses signed immediately after our launch, but we expected it to be,” said Chad MacTavish, ACE Project Management sales director, development manager. “We had over 10,000 people from all over Canada signing up for Water Street by the Park, so we were confident that this first launch would be a success. Anthony and Apriano’s vision captured everything buyers could want right now: a quality product, amazing lifestyle amenities, a great location and fantastic views. And buyers waited and were ready to sign contracts as soon as they were available. “

According to MacTavish, the demand for homes on Water Street by the Park was significantly higher than the number of units for sale during the initial tower launch. In response, the developers will be releasing the limited Diamond Collection earlier than expected, consisting of 12 penthouse and sub-penthouse houses with improved amenities and first-class lake, city and valley views.

The second tower, The Eli at Water Street by the Park, which will be the iconic centerpiece of the three-tower development, will also open this summer and is already making headlines as the tallest tower between the Lower Mainland and Calgary, an impressive 42 stories. According to registration numbers, Water Street by the Park already expects The Eli to generate as much buyer interest as its predecessor as local buyers and Canadians from across the country continue to show incredible interest in Kelowna properties.

Skogie’s car washes will be bringing out the party favors and birthday cake next Friday to celebrate 50 years in business.

The company will host 50th anniversary parties at three of its Okanagan locations: Soft Touch Clement Wash on Clement Avenue in Kelowna; Auto Spa on Underhill Street in Kelowna; and Express Tunnel Wash in Vernon.

Skogie’s, represented here by the Skoglund family, donated $ 50,000 to Okanagan College.

For those who want a bite to eat that day, a barbecue will be held at the Clement location, while Okanagan College will have representatives at the Auto Spa location near Orchard Park to discuss its programs.

You can even catch up on the festivities live as local radio stations, including 103.1 Beach Radio and Power 104, broadcast in all three on-site car washes.

In addition to next Friday’s parties, Skogie’s also celebrated its 50th anniversary by donating $ 50,000 to the Okanagan College’s Our Students, Your Health fundraising campaign. The money will go to the new Health Sciences Center on the Kelowna campus and two annual awards for students studying automotive service technicians and therapist assistants.

“We have hired many students at Okanagan College over the years,” says David Skoglund, who founded Skogie’s in 1971 when he bought Big Eagle Car Wash, which is now the Auto Spa’s location.

“We want to support and advance young people and also give something back to our community.”

Okanagan College is overjoyed with the donation, which increased its fundraising efforts to $ 4 million of its $ 5 million goal.

“We sincerely thank the Skoglund family for helping improve the learning environment for our health care students,” said Yvonne Moritz, interim dean of science, technology and health at Okanagan College.

“This gift will help our students practice in the most modern laboratories and with modern technology. We all need health services at some point, so this gift will really benefit our community when they need it most. “

Skogie’s and Castanet have teamed up in a competition in which one lucky winner will win three car washes. Click here to enter.

Purifying your indoor air has never been more important than this week at the Okanagan.

Air quality has been decimated due to forest fire smoke choking the region.

According to the British Columbia government, wildfire smoke contains particulate matter, carbon monoxide, atmospheric mercury, ozone-forming chemicals, and volatile organic compounds, and your stove is designed to draw this air in from the outside. The problem is, your regular air filter isn’t preventing hazardous materials from getting into your home or workplace.

When you consider that North Americans spend 90% of their time indoors, breathing 2,000 gallons of air every day, and 50% of all respiratory illnesses are caused by air pollution, the need for a good air purifier has never been greater.

Also, the air inside has been shown to be two to five times worse than outside, although that wouldn’t be the case at the Okanagan this week.

People take care of their bodies much better these days, whether it be from the food they eat or the water they drink. Given the importance of breathing to life, it is time to focus more on air quality.

One of the ways to breathe cleaner air is through a portable air purifier that has a highly efficient particulate air filter, also known as a HEPA filter. The technology is ahead of its time, providing real-time air quality measurements so you can see how clean the air is. Also, it changes the air in a room five times an hour instead of the two or three times a normal stove can do, and it turns up when the air is bad.

Portable air filters filter tiny particles from the smoke from forest fires that are 2.5 microns and larger. These ultrafine particles are the most common and dangerous component of forest fire smoke.

It is important to buy the right device for the room you will use it most often, and most of them list the size of the room that they can effectively filter.

A less expensive option is a polarized, electronic air filter, which is easy to install as it fits right into your oven’s existing filter web. The electronic air purifier polarizes tiny particles that slip through the filter the first time so that they stick to each other. The next time they go through the air exchange process, they will be big enough for the filter to stop.
