The Kelowna Olympian has been selected to run in the elite women’s field of the 2022 Boston Marathon

Malindi Elmore will compete in the fastest field in Boston Marathon history

Kelowna’s own Olympic marathoner, Malindi Elmore, will be running the Boston Marathon this spring.

Elmore holds the Canadian marathon record with a stunning personal best of 2:24:50. She represented Canada in the marathon at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

Like a true sun-loving Okanagan native, Elmore trained for the Tokyo heat by running outside in Kelowna’s midday fires in summer.

Runners in Kelowna know Elmore is fast. She ranks first in every popular “Strava segment” around town, often breaking records in the middle of her easy runs.

Canada’s top female marathoner will compete alongside Olympic gold medalist Jepchirchir of Kenya, Olympic bronze medalist Molly Seidel of the USA, and former Boston Marathon champions Edna Kiplagat (2017) and Des Linden (2018).

The Boston Athletic Association announced the elite women’s starting roster in an online press release on Jan. 11.

“We are excited to welcome the fastest and most successful women’s field in Boston Marathon history,” said Boston Athletic Association President Tom Grilk in a press release.

The famous marathon will be held on April 18, 2022.
