Kelowna has delicious international cuisine, including some must-try Mexican restaurants. These authentic, local, family-run restaurants offer a taste of Mexico, right here at the Okanagan.
These three restaurants clearly have something to offer the Kelowna residents as they were voted some of the best in Kelowna last year!
Gold: Hector’s Casa
If you’ve been to Hector’s Casa, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that it has taken gold home with it for the past four consecutive years.
Hector and his wife Laurie moved to Kelowna from Mexico and opened Hector’s Casa in 1999. The restaurant was then bought in 2011 by a couple from Mexico City, Paco and Karina. They run the business to this day with the help of their employees, three children and Hector’s son.
Hector’s Casa on Pandosy Street serves a variety of authentic Mexican dishes, desserts and killer margaritas. In summer you will feel as if you have been transported directly to Mexico on the outdoor terrace hidden behind the restaurant!
For dessert, try the Mexican combo, fajitas, enchiladas, and churros con chocolate.
Silver: Latin Fiesta – Dos Chiles Restaurant
Latin Fiesta – Dos Chiles Restaurant is a popular Rut-Hole-in-the-Wall style restaurant in Rutland. It has taken home silver for the past four years and won bronze for Best Cheap Meal three years in a row.
The Latin Fiesta – Dos Chiles offers Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine. Guests love authentic dishes, quick service and reasonable prices.
Try the Fiesta Burritos and Enchilada Platter for meals that won’t disappoint.
Bronze: El Taquero
El Taquero in downtown Kelowna took home bronze for the second year in a row. The modern and quaint restaurant was opened by Izzy after years of giving a taste of his Mexico City home with friends by hosting taco nights.
El Taquero specializes in delicious tacos inspired by traditional Mexican roadside taco stands that feature many of Izzy’s family recipes.
Try one of the tacos and a freshly shaken margarita to rinse them off.
