After 43 years in business, Kelowna’s Gospel Mission Thrift Store is expanding to West Kelowna.

Gord Milsom, West Kelowna Mayor, Alderman Jason Friesen, Store Manager Shannon Coulter, Deputy Manager Nicolette Roether, and Kelowna’s Gospel Mission General Manager Carmen Rempel will hold an opening ceremony on Saturday, September 11th at 10 a.m. to mark the opening open.

The community is also invited to attend the opening ceremony and enjoy some goodies at 1747 Ross Road, West Kelowna. Staff will also be dressed in decades-old costumes, all of which are made up of donated items.

“We are committed to helping people in the Okanagan Valley who are affected by homelessness and poverty. Our business will not only help us raise funds for these important programs, but will also give people who live on the Westside the opportunity to volunteer, donate and buy quality items at affordable prices, “Shannon said Coulter, manager of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s two thrift stores.

The expansion will meet diverse needs, create volunteer opportunities, promote community and purpose, and give hope to those starting their lives over by making goods more accessible. All proceeds go towards their life saving programs such as housing, meals, outreach, wellness plans and dental care.

Kelowna’s Gospel Mission thrift stores accept carefully used donations of furniture, large and small appliances, mattresses and box spring beds, clothing, household items, decorations and bedding. For large donations, call 250-862-2404 to schedule a collection. Volunteers are required for all positions and can apply in the store or by email at [email protected] .
