Frontline gets a baked surprise

A couple of teenagers who wanted to show their appreciation to first responders baked 300 cookies and handed them out to the front lines on Monday.
Hannah Scuka and Jocelynne Landry, both 13, teamed up and baked a mix of cookies, from classic chocolate chips to sweet sugar cookies to peanut butter cookies.
They hand delivered them to a BCEHS center, two fire stations, and two RCMP departments across Kelowna.
Hannah’s mother, Halina Scuka, tells Castanet that she took pictures of them giving the goodies to first responders, and the responses have been priceless.
“We dropped it off at the police station, an officer came out and said, ‘We were just talking about how much negativity there is and you girls here.” [are] with your cookies it just sweetened my day. ‘ It was really nice to see that reaction, “says Halina.
The girls baked the cookies in their house while she made sure everything was done right.
“I made sure they washed their hands, everything was cleaned and then they wrapped every cookie and tied the bags with ribbons,” says Halina.
Halina homeschools her children and says she tries to teach them to be mindful and appreciate those who protect them in her community.
In the past, they baked Halina bread with the children in the church during forest fires and made cards for the fire brigade.
“Now whenever something like that comes into the community, try to be a part of it.”
