The sports fields at Mission Recreation Park in Kelowna will be closed for the next few weeks as the city installs an improved irrigation system.

“The three soccer field irrigation system is being upgraded and replaced to reduce maintenance costs, improve irrigation efficiency and save more water,” said Andrew Gibbs, senior project manager for the City of Kelowna.

The closure will only affect one soccer field at a time to minimize the impact on users.

The $ 300,000 project begins Thursday, August 17th and is expected to be completed by October 31st.

City officials work closely with user groups to reschedule games and exercises.
