The Kelowna Rockets have taken over 20-year-old defenseman Schael Higson from the Brandon Wheat Kings. In return, the missile defenders send Braydyn Chizen to the Wheat Kings.

Listed by the Saskatoon Blades, Higson has played 282 WHL games in his career. He has scored 18 goals and 61 assists and added 372 penalty minutes in parts of five seasons.

“We had a chance to add Higson. We believe he will give our ice hockey team a physical presence,” said general manager Bruce Hamilton. “I think both players are in the same boat. A change of address will benefit both of them.”

“Braydyn has been here a long time, we would like to thank him for his years of service. It will be a good fresh start for him in Brandon, they look forward to getting him and they are currently fighting for a place in the playoffs, ”said Hamilton.

In addition, the Rockets traded their selection for the fifth round in the 2019 Bantam Draft against Higson for the Wheat Kings.
