Kelowna Rockets appoint Terry McFaul as new Head Scout – Okanagan

The Kelowna Rockets announced their new Head Scout on Thursday, two days after long-time employee Lorne Frey said goodbye as the team’s deputy general manager and chief scout.

Frey had been on the team for 29 years, with scouting being his main role, but announced his retirement on Tuesday. During his tenure, Frey Kelowna’s roster added many blue-chip prospects, including Shea Weber.

Frey was also legendary for standing up – hockey speaking when boy scouts, former players, media and the like gather before games to discuss the latest news, players, prospects, or just shoot the breeze.

“Terry has been with us from the start and knows exactly what kind of players we like. He was involved in many designs and traveled with Lorne. We don’t think there will be much adjustment.

“I think it will be a smooth transition and Lorne will be available as an advisor to help when needed.”
